Tree Lightings and Holiday Celebrations Around Rochester, MI

It’s not the holidays without some festive lighting displays! And with Rochester, MI being home to the world-famous Big Bright Light Show, there are some fantastic displays within a short drive of the historic downtown.

  • Sing & Stroll: Downtown Lake Orion will become aglow at Children’s Park on Thursday, November 17. Participants will be able to enjoy fire pits for roasting marshmallows, hot cocoa, and photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus and more! More information can be found on Downtown Lake Orion’s website.
  • Light the Village: The Village of Rochester Hills kicks off the season on Friday, November 18 with carolers, food trucks, entertainment, a visit from Santa, and a fireworks show! The fun begins at 6 pm. Visit their Facebook page for more information.
  • Canterbury Village Tree Lighting: this free annual event takes place on Friday, November 18 with hot cocoa, s’mores, apple cider, and shopping. Attendees are encouraged to bring a box of cereal to donate to The Village Food Pantry. More information can be found on Canterbury Village’s Facebook page.
  • Partridge Creek Tree Lighting Ceremony: on Sunday, November 20, a whole afternoon of celebrations will take place before Santa and Mrs. Claus light the mall’s trees.   • Lagniappe: The Big Bright Light Show officially opens on Monday, November 21. Downtown merchants will be offering “lagniappe,” which means ‘a little something extra’ in Creole, while carolers and Santa and Mrs. Claus help light up Main Street!   • Shelby Township Christmas Aglow: on Thursday, December 1, the annual tree lighting ceremony for Shelby Township will be held in front of Kris Kringle Castle at the township municipal campus.   • Auburn Hills Tree Lighting Ceremony: head to downtown Auburn Hills to help light up 50 Christmas trees on Friday, December 2. You’ll be able to meet and take pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus, meet Buddy and Jovie the Elves, feed and pet live reindeer, and much more!   • City of Troy Christmas Tree Lighting: join the Troy High Colts Drumline and Athens High Choirs for the annual tree lighting on December 2.
