MI-UCP Celebrates 75th Anniversary with Inaugural Annual Awards Gala
Michigan United Cerebral Palsy (MI-UCP) is thrilled to announce its 75th Anniversary Awards Gala, celebrating 75 years of dedicated service to the 2.3 million Michiganders living with a disability. This momentous event will take place on Friday, November 8, at MGM Grand in Detroit.
Founded in 1949, MI-UCP has been an unwavering ally and advocate for individuals with disabilities, ensuring they have the right to live to the best of their abilities and pursue their ambitions. Over the years, MI-UCP has evolved to become one of Michigan’s largest sources of support, education, referrals, and services for people with disabilities and their families.
“Celebrating 75 years is a milestone for any organization,” said Leslynn Angel, MI-UCP Executive Director. “For MI-UCP it is a symbol of our commitment to creating a world where every individual lives to their fullest potential and goes as far as their ambition will take them.”
The gala promises an unforgettable evening filled with live entertainment, a five-star dinner, and an exciting auction featuring incredible items. Join community leaders from across the state as we honor our past achievements and envision a future of continued advocacy and support.
MI-UCP’s comprehensive services include assistive technology, financial assistance, advocacy, and employment services, all aimed at promoting equity, independence, and inclusion. While originally focused on individuals with Cerebral Palsy, today, MI-UCP serves all of the more than 65 percent of the people MI-UCP serves have disabilities.
Most recently, MI-UCP launched several funding resources providing critical Assistive Technology to individuals with disabilities. From hearing aids and speaking devices to adaptive vehicles and motorized wheelchairs, Assistive Technology provides independence and hope to individuals with disabilities as they navigate the world in new ways.
