State and local officials celebrate 100th birthday of Oakleigh of Macomb resident, Dorothy Rowe
(Macomb Twp, MI-) Macomb resident Dorothy Rowe celebrated her 100th birthday on April 29. Now living at the Oakleigh of Macomb senior community, Rowe and her entire community held a celebration, joined by State Representative Joseph Aragona, Shelby Twp. Supervisor Rick Stathakis, and Macomb Twp. Supervisor Frank Viviano.
Rowe’s secret to a long life is eating fruits and vegetables as well as a gluten free diet. She began painting at age 40 and her next goal is to finish her hand painted cards and see her paintings enjoyed by more family and friends. At the age of 50, Rowe went back to college to earn her degree in medical records and go back to work.
“It’s a blessing to meet and greet people like Dorothy, who make Shelby Township such a fantastic place to live, and it is an honor to represent them,” said Supervisor Stathakais. “On behalf of Shelby Township and our Board of Trustees, congratulations to Dorothy on her many accomplishments, and we wish her a very happy birthday.”
Rowe was born and raised in Ohio, in her grandparents’ home prior to coming to reside in Michigan with her family for the past 65 years. She was a resident of Shelby Township until her move to Oakleigh of Macomb for her senior living years.
