Macomb County Celebrates Newest Affordable Rent-to-Own Housing

Community Housing Network hosted the official Ribbon Cutting of its newest Macomb County development, Erin Park, on May 20. Erin Park, in Eastpointe, consists of 52 high-quality duplex style one- and two-bedroom homes. The community was built on the site of the former Deerfield Elementary School property. Each unit is available as a rental for 15 years, after which existing tenants are given the opportunity to buy the home. This unique option allows for neighborhood stabilization and pride in the community.

"The completion of Erin Park was truly a testament to our work and partnership with community leaders and professionals committed to providing affordable housing to our communities," said Marc Craig, Community Housing Network President. "Construction and development were a challenge during the pandemic, and our partners met that challenge with an amazing amount of dedication. Erin Park is now home to more than 50 families who may have otherwise been unhoused. That is truly something to celebrate."

Erin Park is also near many employment opportunities and public transportation along 9 Mile Road and Gratiot, as well as Groesbeck. The total development cost is $14.8 million.
