Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farm Hosts Summer Events for Friends and Family
The Rochester Hills Museum is located at 1005 Van Hoosen Road, off Tienken Road between Rochester and Dequindre Roads.
Event: Rochester Grangers Vintage Baseball Matches

Vintage baseball is played representing a time period when gentlemen played for leisure and not for competition. You will not see any spitting, sliding, or wagering at these matches! Home matches are played at the Museum and guests should bring their own chairs or blankets, cool drinks, and sun protection.

Come cool off in Stoney Creek with these hands on activity kits! While you splash around, you can use nets, magnifying glasses, bug boxes, and more to learn about the critters that call the creek home. Staff will be on site near the creek with available supplies. Limited kits available on a first come, first serve basis. Thursdays in June/July/August, from June 23 – August 11. Donations welcome.

Register: N/AJoin Museum staff at the Rochester Farmer’s Market! Buy some fresh food and then hit the streets to learn some fascinating facts to share at dinner with family and friends. Where is the oldest building on Main Street? Where were the first hotels? Who dressed up as President Taft to market his business? When did the telephone come to town? Where were all the churches? On this tour we’ll explore our downtown exhibit signs and sift through historical photos and stories while walking about a half mile.

You’ll find entertainment starting at 12 noon and water fun starts at 1pm with two huge slip and slides, a Rochester Hills Fire Truck, cool sprinklers for little kids, wading in Stoney Creek and water activities sponsored by the Clinton River Watershed Council. Rochester Public Library Book mobile will be on site, and you can learn more about Michigan’s animals and plants with the City of Rochester Hills Outdoor Engagement team.

Here you will find gravestones for our community’s earliest leaders, soldiers, poets, and philanthropists. We will examine the beautiful artwork of headstones and divulge the forgotten lives and stories of the past. Meet at the Billy Yank Civil War Statue. The cemetery is bounded by 1st and 3rd street, at 200 Wilcox St.
Tea in the Farmhouse
We’re opening the doors of the farmhouse to host an afternoon, or low tea hour. Each session will explore a new aspect of family history and world travels. Guests get the chance to interact with artifacts and documents normally stored safely away in the collections room, while enjoying the ambiance of the 1840s Van Hoosen farmhouse. This unique opportunity is limited to 12 people. Tea and light snack will be served.
Van Hoosen Historic Gardens & Landscape
Tuesday, July 26 10:00am – 11:00amThe Van Hoosen ladies found peace and joy within nature. It’s no wonder their yard and grounds were full of blossoming flowers and were a welcomed haven for local clubs and organizations. Join us to learn about how the family fostered a gardening community, as well as some of the family gardens.
