Rochester Community Chorus Announces Fall/Winter 2024 Season

New singers encouraged to join

ROCHESTER, MI, August 23, 2024 – The Rochester Community Chorus announces its fall/winter 2024 season with a full performance schedule, starting with a major presentation of Lux: The Dawn From on High by Dan Forrest, with small chamber orchestra, on Sunday, November 17, 2024 at 4 p.m. at St. Mary of the Hills Catholic Church, Rochester Hills. Written in 2018, this five-movement masterwork explores various facets of light and encompasses ancient chant, shimmering light, unconditional love, heavenly joy, and deep peace about light in the darkness.

The Chorus will join the Rochester Community Concert Band and the Choral Union of Rochester Christian University for a Christmas concert on December 3 at Avondale High School, Auburn Hills, at 7:30 p.m.

Continuing an annual tradition, the Chorus will present two musical compositions at the annual Rochester community Christmas concert held at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Rochester, on December 8, 2024.

Rehearsals for the Rochester Community Chorus are held on Monday evenings at 7:45 p.m., starting September 9, 2024, in the sanctuary of St. Mary of the Hills church. New singers are always welcomed.

The Rochester Community Chorus seeks to enrich the cultural life of the community by providing its singers with opportunities to perform high quality choral music under professional direction and by enhancing the lives of all through the resonant power of harmony and word. Approximately 40 singers currently make up the Chorus.

Daniel Greig is the Director of the Rochester Community Chorus, a post he has held since 2012. In addition to directing the Rochester Community Chorus, Daniel has also served as Director of Music Ministry at St. Mary of the Hills Catholic Community since 2005. He is also an Adjunct Professor of Music at University of Detroit Mercy and Madonna University.
