The Rochester Community Chorus will present “Songs for the Spring” on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at St. Mary of the Hills church at 7:30 p.m. The church is located at 2675 John R Rd, Rochester Hills. Admission is $15 at the door and includes appetizers and beverages.
The May 3rd concert will include popular weather-related tunes, such as Stormy Weather, Here Comes the Sun, the Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow, and You Are the Sunshine of My Life. Other contemporary hits on the program will include Seasons of Love from the musical Rent, and The Rose, from the movie of the same name. A special version of What a Wonderful World, popularized by Louis Armstrong, will round out the program.
The Rochester Community Chorus seeks to enrich the cultural life of the community by providing its singers with opportunities to perform high quality choral music under professional direction and by enhancing the lives of all through the resonant power of harmony and word.
Rehearsals for the Rochester Community Chorus are held on Monday evenings at 7:45 p.m., in the sanctuary of St. Mary of the Hills church. New singers are always welcomed.
The Chorus welcomes new singers to join the fun. The chorus has performed a wide variety of literature including sacred and secular large-scale works such as Carmina Burana and Lux: The Dawn from On High, various Requiems, masses, pops and show tunes, and multicultural music. The chorus is open to all who enjoy singing at any skill level. Approximately 40 singers currently make up the Chorus.
Daniel Greig is the Director of the Rochester Community Chorus, a post he has held since 2012. In addition to directing the Rochester Community Chorus, Daniel has also served as Director of Music Ministry at St. Mary of the Hills Catholic Community since 2005. He is also an Adjunct Professor of Music at University of Detroit Mercy and Madonna University.
The Chorus is accompanied by Chancellor Wyman, who has extensive educational training in music and piano performance. He also currently works part-time as a tenor section leader and accompanist at All Saints Episcopal Church in Pontiac.
